What We Know About Peer Defending And How The Research Can Inform Prevention Efforts.
Bullying is a relationship problem that requires relationship solutions. For example, bullying often occurs in the context of peers. When peers defend others from bullying they can be highly effective. In fact many interventions encourage youth to take a defender role, however it is important to understand what are the impacts of defending others from bullying; from whom defending is beneficial; and how best to support peers in defending. The goal of this presentation is to review the research on peer defending and translate this research into practice.
