Addressing School Bullying in an East Asian Context: The Taiwan Experience.
School bullying is a common problem among children and adolescents worldwide, but relatively less is known about its extent in Asian societies such as Taiwan. Based on a series of large-scale studies, this presentation introduces the prevalence and characteristics of bullying in Taiwanese students. The risk factors at multiple levels are identified from an ecological perspective, and the heterogeneity among aggressors /victims are examined. Finally, policy responses and prevention strategies in local contexts are discussed to facilitate a cross-cultural understanding of this significant issue.
