Jorge J. Varela

Jorge J. Varela, Associate Professor at Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, studies school climate and the role of positive school communities in protecting young people from bullying and promoting wellbeing. His research, including “School Climate, Bullying and Mental Health among Chilean Adolescents” (Child Indicators Research, 2021), has expanded into cross-national comparative work spanning Chile, South Africa and Indonesia, bringing a genuinely global South American voice to the programme.
