FAQ Registration

Q:
When can I register?

A:
Registration for WABF 2023 will open January 2023.

Q:
I will only be attending to present, so I will not take part in the rest of the conference. Do I still need to pay the registration fee?

A:
The idea of WABF is to create meetings and facilitate dialogues to share knowledge as such, presenters must register as delegates.

Q:
I run an educational company for adults. Should I register as a delegate or an educator? 

A:
You need to register as a delegate, the registration for educators is for those who educate children and young people up to 18 years old.

Q:
Do I get a discount as a presenter? (oral, poster, workshop)

A:
Presenters can receive a discounted registration rate for delegates before the early bird deadline of June 1, 2023.

Q:
We are a group of people who would like to register for WABF. Should we register as a group or do we need to register separately?

A:
The registration site can accommodate registration for groups of up to 30 as long as they are being paid for using the same credit card. If you have any questions or need assistance with group bookings, please email wabf2023@mosaixgroup.com

Q:
I am a doctoral/Ph.D. student. Can I register as a student, or do I need to register as a delegate?

A:
Master’s and Ph.D. students are eligible for discounted registration and should register as graduate student delegates.

Q:
I’m having difficulty completing my payment online. Would it be possible to complete the transaction over the phone?

A:
We only accept registrations and payments through our registration links, please check these common issues to see if that will solve it for you:

  • Confirm that your card has enough coverage.
  • Confirm that your card has not expired.
  • Contact your bank to make sure your card is open for payments to other countries.

If that does not solve it, please contact us again.

Q:
When can I submit an abstract?

A:
Abstract submissions open October 2022 and are due in December 2022.

Q:
When will I find out about my abstract’s status?

A:
In order to give ample time for submission and review, notifications of acceptance/rejection will be sent out in February 2023.

Q:
Are you accepting volunteers to review abstract submission

A:
Yes! If you would like to help us review abstracts, please contact us at: wabf2023@mosaixgroup.com

Q:
Can I add a person as the author of my abstract submission after acceptance?

A:
Yes, if there is a co-author that you want to add send an email to wabf2023@mosaixgroup.com and tell us your abstract submission number and the names of the people it involves.

Q:
Can I add or change the presenter?

A:
Yes, send an email to wabf2023@mosaixgroup.com and tell us your abstract submission number and the names of the people it involves.

Q:
I selected to present this abstract as an oral presentation but received an offer to do a poster presentation. Has there been a mistake? If not, is it possible to know why my abstract was not accepted as an oral presentation?

A:
The program committee may change the presentation type submitted by the author to ensure the continuity of the conference program (i.e., oral presentation may be changed to poster presentation OR poster presentation to oral presentation). The decision of the program committee is final.

FAQ Travel & Visit

Q:
Do I need a visa to travel to the United States?

A:
The United States participates in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) which allows citizens of 40 countries to enter the US for the purpose of tourism without a visa. If you are not a resident of one of these countries, you may need to apply for a B2 tourist visa to enter the US. Please check entry requirements usa.gov/visas.

For most accurate information we recommend that you check your country’s requirements to travel to the United States.

Q:
Can I pay for expenses in the United States with cash and/or with a credit card?

A:
Most stores handle cash but it is more common to pay by credit card. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops. It is advisable to carry an identity card or other form of photo identification. The official currency is the United States Dollar (USD).

If you still need cash there are many ATM machines available in Raleigh. For money exchange, the companies “Travelex America” and “CXI” have offices at the airports. For money exchange in the city, various American banks offer services. For opening hours and other information about exchange services please visit the Travelex America, CXI, or local Raleigh bank websites.

Q:
Have any airlines provided flight discounts for WABF attendees?

A:
Icelandair is offering a time-limited 10% discount on flights to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) for World Anti-Bullying Forum attendees. Use promo code WABF23 when booking your flight. Discount available until June 14.

Q:
Can I drink the tap water?

A:
The drinking water quality in North Carolina is of high and consistent quality, which means that you can drink it directly from the tap. However, it is suggested to drink from filtered water for better quality.

Q:
What electricity power is used in the United States?

A:
In the United States of America, the power plugs and sockets are of type A and B. The standard voltage is 120 V and the standard frequency is 60 Hz. Appliances designed to operate on a different voltage need a voltage converter and a plug adapter. Use this webpage to determine if you need a voltage converter and plug adapter.

Q:
What is the smoking policy in North Carolina?

A:
North Carolina has a non-smoking policy (i.e., smoking is prohibited) in most public buildings, public transport, restaurants, taxis, buses, and trains. A designated smoking area is provided outside of the conference venue.

What time zone is it in North Carolina?

A:
The time zone in Raleigh, North Carolina, is Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) or GMT (-) 4 hours.

Q:
Am I expected to leave a
tip?

A:
While tipping is not mandatory in the United States, it is customary in many circumstances for service, especially at almost all sit-down restaurants which offer table service and many food servers depend on tips as an essential part of their wage. Generally, the average tip is 15% to 20% of the total meal cost. For large parties (typically 6 or more guests) some establishments add an automatic gratuity or service charge, in this case you do not need to add an additional tip unless you desire to do so. It is also customary to provide a small tip to other service employees such as Uber drivers, housekeepers, bartenders, etc.

Q:
Can I get a VAT Refund?

A:
The United States Government does not refund sales tax to foreign visitors. Sales tax charged in the United States is paid to individual states, not the Federal government – the same way that Value Added Tax (VAT) is paid in many countries.
