Heng Choon (Oliver) Chan

Heng Choon (Oliver) Chan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Criminology at The University of Birmingham, UK (previously affiliated with City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong). He holds a doctoral degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida, and was a recipient of the Outstanding Criminology Ambassador Award in 2012 and Distinguished Alumni Award in 2021. His research focuses on psycho-criminology, sexual offending, cyberbullying, bullying, and stalking. To date, Dr. Chan was presented with a total of nine awards to recognize his exemplary contributions to research and professional education. Dr. Chan has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters; and has sole-authored and lead co-edited seven academic books on different psycho-criminological topics, including Asian and African mental health and the criminal justice system, sexual offending and homicide, stalking, and animal abuse. He is the Editor of The Wiley Series in the Psycho-Criminology of Crime, Mental Health and the Law; and Section, Senior, and Associate Editor of six top-tier journals in criminology and forensic psychology and psychiatry.
